Life's Got Busier

2 + 1 + 1 = 4
On Nov 13th, 2012, we welcomed baby K and her sister became the little big sister. I became a crazy exhausted mom and my husband became a sleep deprived SAHD. Everything that everyone said came to pass. We are more tired than ever. We have accepted that it will take another hour to get ready and leave the house. I became "that" mom with 2 kids with at least one is always screaming, in public. But hey, I still hold my head up high... although I do not dare look at anyone in the face while it is happening. Why is it that no matter how you know you are doing your best and know that you are not doing anything wrong and know that your kids are not the worst behaved kids in the world, while it is happening, you always feel like "that" mom and that at least one person is judging you.
It is official we are the all American family of 4 with a mini van! *sigh* 5 years ago... who knew??!!!

Little Steps

It is almost midnight and usually by now I am passing out and desperately trying to keep my eyes open in front of the tele or lappie. The truth is by now, my husband is jolting me to get off the sofa and crawl into bed. He doesn’t understand my nightly “ritual” as yet.
But tonight I am psyched! I am having what I call a “Eureka” moment… feeling inspired and driven by some amazing blogs I read online tonight. I don’t know if anyone has a secret process on finding interesting groups and people on blogs, Facebook and Twitter. I certainly don’t. I usually find myself muddling between 5 tabs on my browser and trying to figure out what I was reading and what I need to focus on. But tonight I discovered DesignMom, another Colorado mom and Kirtsy. You have got to take a peek! You will find at least 3 things within 10 minutes of interest.
Another Colorado mom that keeps me moving forward is TaraDara. She mentioned that a conference is being held by Tory Johnson, in Denver in a couple of weeks! And yes, NiGi will be going.
Did I mention that “we” finally finished removing all of the grass and weeds from our garden so that “we” can finally start xeriscaping? (anyone living in Colorado knows this is a HUGE deal) Like I said, it has been a big day!

3 and 1/2

I cannot believe how much more tired I am this time around! With our first baby girl I worked 11 hours days and when I eventually went to the hospital to have her, I kept thinking about the new hire who was joining my team that day and I did not get a chance to train him. This time around I can barely make it to lunch time. After working a full 9 hours each day and romping around with baby girl, I am completely knackered and it takes everything I have to muster up enough energy to even open my laptop.
But over the next couple of weeks we have so much going on with NiGi… photoshoots, summer markets, continuous research . We have learnt a lot about company start-ups over the past year. My sisters have been running NiGi on magic over the past 20 years… and a whole lot of love… in Trinidad and Tobago. So when we decided to launch nigiusa.com, we thought the hardest part would be designing and developing the web site. But apparently there are things like social media, marketing, promotions and weird things like taxes and licenses!
They say getting married tests your relationship… how about having a 1 year old running around and starting up a company and now baking another bambino in the oven! Gosh it feels like our lives have fast forwarded in the last couple of years.
Oh did I mention baby girl took her first steps this week! I am a very proud… tired mommy... but happy!

Life's Delicious!

Life is delicious! After growing up and living in the tiny Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago for over 30 years here I am a Trini living in Colorado… and I think I may be the only one! My husband and I could not be from two more opposite cultures and backgrounds. He grew up in the land of elk, cowboys and Buffalo Bill- Cody, WY! Funny how when we met neither one of us really knew where the others home really was.

So here we are in Denver, Colorado- where sun-visors and spandex are a fashion statement and sunshine meets snow covered mountains and one way or the other you have been to the top of a 14’ner (you at least know what that means) and you discover that there are 50 different ways to brew beer!

After traveling around the world on the QE2, seeing incredible places and meeting amazing people... falling in love, now I am a mom, a wife and finally co-owner of NiGi.

This is my version of our story…
